CTE Showcase

Midland County, MI — January 15, 2026 — More than 120 students from across Midland County participated in a successful Career & Technical Education Showcase Day held on January 15, 2026, gaining first hand exposure to the wide range of career and technical education programs available throughout the county.

Students from Coleman, Bullock Creek, Meridian, and Midland Public Schools toured programs, met instructors, and explored career pathways spanning skilled trades, agriscience, healthcare technology, business, culinary, STEM, and more. The event was organized by the Midland County Educational Service Agency (ESA) in collaboration with each of the four local school districts belonging to the Midland County Career & Technical Education Consortium.  Today emphasized that career and technical education opportunities are accessible countywide, allowing students to pursue programs aligned with their interests regardless of their home high school.

“The showcase day was about opening doors and fostering excitement for the opportunities that exist through collaboration,” said Grant Murschel, Career & Technical Education Director for the Midland County ESA. “By seeing these programs in action, students can better envision their futures and understand the practical, hands-on learning options available to them right here in Midland County.”

The Career & Technical Education Showcase Day reflects a continued commitment to strengthening workforce pipelines, expanding student awareness, and connecting education with real-world career opportunities across Midland County.

About the Midland County Career & Technical Education (CTE) Consortium

The Midland County Career & Technical Education (CTE) Consortium allows high school students across Midland County to access a broad range of career and technical education programs. Through the consortium, students may enroll in CTE programs offered at any participating high school in the county, regardless of which school they attend as their home high school.

This countywide approach expands access to specialized programs that may not be available at every school. CTE courses are designed to provide applied, skills-based learning alongside academic instruction, with all programs offering opportunities for industry credentials, certifications, or postsecondary credit.

The consortium is intended to ensure that students and families can select career and technical education programs based on educational and career interests, rather than location, while maintaining strong collaboration among Midland County school districts and the Greater Michigan Construction Academy (GMCA).  The Midland County CTE Consortium is a collaboration between Coleman Community Schools, Bullock Creek Schools, Meridian Public Schools, Midland Public Schools, and the Midland County Educational Service Agency (ESA).
